Telangana's Economic Boom: A Whopping Rs 5.75 Lakh Crore Investment in Just Two Days!
The southern state of Telangana is making headlines with its ambitious economic vision. In a remarkable feat, the state secured an astonishing Rs 5.75 lakh crore ($76.7 billion) in investment deals over two days at the Telangana Rising Global Summit. This is a massive boost to the state's economy and a testament to its growing appeal to investors.
Day 1 saw a promising start with investment commitments totaling Rs 2.43 lakh crore. But here's where it gets even more impressive: on Day 2, the state attracted an additional Rs 3.3 lakh crore in investment intentions. These deals were primarily centered around capital-intensive infrastructure projects, showcasing Telangana's potential as a future economic powerhouse.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has set his sights high, aiming to transform Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047, contributing a significant 10% to India's GDP. He envisions the state as a global competitor, striving to be the best in India and among the top countries worldwide. But this vision isn't just about economic growth; it's about inclusive development.
Reddy emphasized that the 'Telangana Rising 2047' vision document is a commitment to the people, especially the marginalized communities. It aims to address the needs of farmers, women, youth, Dalits, Adivasis, minorities, and the poorest of the poor. He described it as a social contract, ensuring responsibility and accountability. This approach is a refreshing take on economic development, focusing on the well-being of all citizens.
The summit's success was evident in the diverse range of projects secured. Day 2 saw massive investments in data centers, green energy, aerospace, defense, life sciences, tourism, and green mobility. The largest deal was a Rs 70,000 crore investment by Infrakey Datacenter Parks for a 1GW AI data center, followed by AGIDC of Singapore's Rs 67,500 crore plan for an international gateway data center, solidifying Telangana's digital future.
The state also attracted investments from various sectors: Zen Technologies (Rs 5,000 crore), Biologicals E Ltd (Rs 4,000 crore), RCT of Germany (Rs 2,500 crore), KGV Karishma Global Ventures (Rs 1,100 crore), and Mahindra & Mahindra (Rs 500 crore). These companies will contribute to Telangana's growth in aerospace, biopharma, green mobility, and more.
The tourism sector also received a boost with unique projects like India's first artificial beach by Fluidra, Damera Infra, and CFS Fortune Hospitality (Rs 800 crore), and a Maldives-inspired wellness retreat by Atmosphere Core and Fortune Hospitality (Rs 300 crore).
Telangana's government announced that Zurich Insurance and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce will establish their first India global capability centers in Hyderabad, while Maximus will set up a global public sector technology hub, further enhancing the city's appeal.
