It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of George Guest. He peacefully departed this world on Thursday, January 1st, 2026, at The Galway Hospice, surrounded by his cherished family. This is a time of profound sadness for all who knew him.
George, residing at Emmett Avenue, Mervue, Galway, was predeceased by his father, George, his mother, Lily, his infant sister Mary, and his grandsons Cormac (Jnr) and Jack. He leaves behind a legacy of love as the devoted husband of Mary and a beloved father to Karen, Louise, George, Jillian, Niamh, Marie, and Clodagh.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, children, sons-in-law Bryan, Paul, Cormac, Robert, and James, along with his 13 adoring grandchildren. His brother Michael, sisters Helen, Nora, Joan, and Deirdre, along with brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousin Rita, relatives, neighbors, and a wide circle of friends also mourn his loss.
May his gentle soul find eternal peace.
George will be reposing at The Holy Family Funeral Home, Mervue (H91 FH52), on Sunday, January 4th, starting at 5:00 pm, followed by removal at 6:30 pm to the adjoining church. His Requiem Mass will be held on Monday, January 5th, at 11:00 am. The funeral will then proceed to The New Cemetery, Bohermore (H91 V97C).
For those unable to attend, the funeral mass will be livestreamed via Mervue – ChurchTV.

Important Note: Access to the funeral parlor is through the front entrance of the main church. Wheelchair users and those with mobility issues can access the funeral parlor at ground level from the car park.
