Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist: AI-Powered Rotating Laptop Review & Demo (2026)

Ready to have your laptop follow your every move? Lenovo is bringing back a familiar twist with its new ThinkBook Plus Gen 7 Auto Twist, a laptop designed to revolutionize the way you work and present in meeting rooms. This isn't just a throwback; it's a leap forward, blending classic design with cutting-edge AI.

This innovative laptop takes inspiration from the 2012 Lenovo ThinkPad Twist, but this time, the twist is all about smart technology. Forget manual adjustments; the screen now rotates automatically, thanks to a motorized hinge and AI. Using the camera, it tracks your movements, mirroring Apple's Center Stage technology in a physical form.

The Gen 7 Auto Twist is slated for release in June 2026, with a starting price of $1,650. Initially unveiled as a concept at CES 2024, the finalized version boasts faster and quieter rotation, according to Lenovo.

During a demonstration at CES 2026, the laptop's ability to follow me was impressive. But here's where it gets controversial: it also features an AI-powered mode that displays animated eyes on the screen, aiming to give the laptop a companionable personality. It's designed to respond to voice commands, though the noisy environment made it difficult to assess this feature fully.

The Gen 7 Auto Twist is designed as a lightweight work laptop, weighing just over 3 pounds. It runs on Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors and features a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display that is suitable for indoor use.

Lenovo showcased several other exciting concepts at CES 2026, including the ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept laptop, with a screen that expands vertically, and the Legion Pro Rollable laptop concept, designed for gamers to expand their display horizontally.

While the Gen 7 Auto Twist is becoming a reality, the future of these rollable devices remains uncertain. However, given that the Auto Twist went from concept to commercial product in just two years, there's hope that these innovative designs could also hit the market in the coming years.

What do you think? Are you excited about the Gen 7 Auto Twist, or do you think the AI-powered features are a bit much? Would you like to see the rollable concepts become a reality? Share your thoughts in the comments!
