Iran Protests: Unraveling the Crackdown's Tragic Toll (2026)

The Iranian protests have sparked a powerful movement, but at what cost? The uprising has unfolded with tragic consequences, leaving many victims in its wake.

The Price of Freedom: Unveiling the Truth Behind the Crackdown

In our investigation, we've uncovered a disturbing pattern. While it's evident that gunfire took the lives of most victims, the official records tell a different story.

Take the case of Sourena Golgoun, an 18-year-old with a passion for karate and music. His last Instagram post, a reflection on the year gone by, now serves as a haunting reminder. Just weeks later, this young chemical engineering student met a tragic end.

"They shot him from behind," his cousin Mohammad Golgoun revealed. "The bullet pierced his heart and lungs, and he died instantly."

But here's where it gets controversial. Mohammad claims the authorities threatened those who came to collect the bodies, pressuring them to accept a narrative that the victims were killed by terrorists, not the IRGC.

And this is the part most people miss: the Iranian authorities blame foreign enemies and so-called terrorists for the unrest. In a letter to the UN, Iran's foreign minister claimed peaceful protests were sabotaged, turning into armed riots.

Another tragic story is that of Amir Ali Haydari, also 18. He attended a protest with his classmates and never returned home. His cousin, Diako Haydari, described the horrifying scene: "He was shot in the heart, and as he was dying, they beat him with the butt of a gun, causing his brain to spill out."

Yet, Diako discovered that his cousin's death certificate listed the cause of death as a fall from a high height.

Human rights lawyer Leila Alikarami sheds light on this practice, stating, "The misrepresentation of causes of death is not a new phenomenon, but the scale and consistency are striking. When similar causes appear in cases with evidence pointing to shootings or repression, it suggests a deliberate concealment of state responsibility."

This raises serious legal concerns, as it undermines the right to truth, obstructs accountability, and violates Iran's international human rights obligations.

The question remains: Will the world stand by as these injustices unfold, or will there be a call for action? We invite you to share your thoughts in the comments.
