BYU Football: Pula Twins, Jaron and Kennan, Sign with the Cougars (2026)

Breaking News: The Pula twins, Jaron and Kennan, have made a dramatic switch, flipping their commitment from the Utah Utes to the BYU Cougars! This is a story of twists, turns, and ultimately, a strong connection with a coach.

These talented athletes, hailing from American Fork, Utah's Lone Peak High School, are no strangers to making big decisions. This marks their second commitment flip! Initially, they were set to join UCLA, but they changed their minds and announced their commitment to the Utes in July.

What's the story behind this sudden change? BYU had been in the picture, offering the twins a spot in June, but they weren't initially pursuing them as aggressively as other programs, including Utah. But over the past month, BYU significantly increased its efforts, making the twins a priority.

But here's where it gets controversial... Just when it seemed like the Pulas were solid on their commitment to BYU, rumors started swirling that BYU's head coach, Kalani Sitake, might be leaving for Penn State.

Kennan Pula shared, "We both wanted to play for Kalani. He’s been our guy from the jump, and we were even ready to follow him to Penn State if he went there."

Fortunately for BYU fans, Sitake decided to stay. "He ended up staying, and we’re really excited to play for him. He’s been constantly saying he’ll take care of us, and he’s in our corner, and it shows," Kennan added.

Jaron Pula echoed his brother's sentiments, emphasizing their excitement to play for Coach Sitake, and highlighting the importance of having Coach Fesi Sitake (WR coach) by his side. "I love the fan base and how much care goes into the players. I’m just really excited and grateful to be a part of something big and grow with this program," Jaron said.

So, what makes these twins so special? Both Jaron and Kennan are exceptionally talented athletes with high potential.

Jaron is a versatile player, and while he can play both ways, the team sees him primarily as a receiver. "I think I can play both ways, but they truly see me as a receiver, so that’s where I’ll be focusing," Jaron explained. "I never expected to be going to BYU, but everything happens for a reason, and I’m very excited about the opportunity." He possesses rare traits for a receiver, including impressive size, athleticism, strong hands, and speed. He stands at a twitchy 6-foot-3, weighing 185 pounds, and demonstrates remarkable quickness. He excels in jump ball situations due to his large catch radius and shows impressive agility after the catch.

Kennan is also a two-way player, with a higher ceiling at safety. He gained attention with a viral, one-handed interception earlier this season. "BYU likes me as a two-way player," Kennan said. "They see me as an athlete that can play both ways, but I’ll start out at safety first. It’s exciting to be a part of this BYU class that has a chance to be one of the best they have ever had. I know I’m going to be in a fight to earn my spot, but I just got to stay down and work, and I know I’ll be good." At 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Kennan is a smooth athlete with excellent football instincts. During his junior year, he scored touchdowns as a receiver, safety, and on a kickoff return.

A critical question for discussion: Do you think the twins made the right decision? Do you believe the coaches' influence played a significant role in their final choice? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
