Apple's MacBook Pro M5 lineup is here, bringing powerful upgrades to the popular laptop series. With a focus on AI capabilities, these new models offer enhanced performance and features for professionals. The M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are up to four times faster than the previous generation, boasting a neural accelerator in each graphics core. This results in improved prompt times for Large Language Models (LLMs) and faster AI image generation compared to M1 models. The M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are designed with AI in mind, making them ideal for those working with MLX instructions on a Mac. The new laptops also support CPUs with up to 18 cores and offer improved graphics performance for animators, designers, and visual effects artists. Additionally, the Apple N1 processor brings support for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6, along with a slightly brighter screen. However, the price hike is a concern, with the 16-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro starting at $4299 and the 14-inch M5 Pro model at $3599. The M5 Max models are even more expensive, with the 14-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro starting at $5799 and the 16-inch at $6299. Despite the higher cost, Apple has introduced an updated 14-inch standard MacBook Pro with M5, featuring 1TB storage and a more affordable price tag of $2699. The new MacBook Pro M5 models are expected to be available in stores next week, with pre-orders starting soon. As for the current models, prices may temporarily drop as stock is depleted.
